Ukraine's Foreign Minister Statement blaming India is morally wrong

Ukraine’s foreign minister recently called India buying oil from Russia as immoral. It’s really easy to morally guilt trip another country, but oil and commodities have been controlled by the west for a very long time. The West has waged wars on innocent lives and children for oil all in the name of some or the other moral compass. This is the final energy war we might see in our lives, possibly ever. Because there is a concerted effort being made, a push towards renewable energy sources. Well, at least for now, it’s an effort being made toward electric vehicles and energy. But for industries, the entire mechanism is still calibrated towards oil and natural gas.

There are quite a few reasons for the West’s attempt at control and primarily it is also because their influence is weakening. They don't manufacture anymore, their military is not overwhelmingly mighty and they are off the gold standard. By all means, the current global currency situation is based on thin air and that is a precarious situation for all parties involved. We are no longer in an era where a single reserve currency can hold its weight. Especially with no physical standard holding down the weight of the currency, what’s stopping any other region or country to make its own reserve currency?

The tug of war between nations will continue for as long as humans don’t find a common enemy. And that’s probably not going to happen until and unless SpaceX and NASA start discovering more about the universe right?

But I am going off on a tangent. Ukraine’s foreign minister’s statement seems woefully selfish. For several years, Ukraine has wholeheartedly supported Pakistan. Today, India is looking out for itself. A country’s primary responsibility is towards its citizens’ security - it could be military, economic or any other security. Today, India’s energy security is directly related to literally every other aspect of its economy. As India looks to secure its growth it should ensure that its growth remains the top priority. As we are already seeing, the West is clearly using different countries for their own benefit.

And of course, there is the question of whether buying oil from Russia makes India (and China for that matter) morally wrong. But name the one country that has waged the most wars against the most partners in the past fifty years. The United States has had wars against Iraq, Iran, North Korean, Vietnam and many more.

So holding one country to a different standard than what the world leader is doing is completely wrong. I don;t support the war and definitely believe that at least now, Russia should stop or Ukraine should surrender. But amidst the political tug of war, we can see how the common man is suffering.
