Locke and Jones Season 3 continues with the story about the Locke Family and their secret arsenal of keys. And frankly, even though this show was not really on my mind for the past few months, the show picked right up. The pacing of the first few episodes, highlights how the show progresses and brings back memories from the previous seasons.
This season brings an end to the show, with the Locke’s throwing away the keys but clearly remembering every bit of their adventures. Ty also uses the memory key to bring back memories. The show was sort of going nowhere in the grand scheme of things, with the actors consistently facing new demons and characters and facing a similar situation of trying to save themselves or trying to save the world. Either way, it was a very similar situation and it was not getting any more interesting.
I think the producers failed to create an overarching story with this show. They could have promised an impending doom and worked their way through that. But it feels like they were heavily focused only on getting through one season at a time and that is why the show could not move past Season 3.
Anyways Locke and Key has ended, and I would say I am glad they ended it after three seasons. If they would’ve dragged it more, it would have been much less interesting and felt like a drag, similar to how many shows usually feel.
As usual, Emilia Jones was excellent and so was Jackson Robert Scott. The fantastic sibling pair hold the show with their superb acting and natural charm.
The story was okay. Not a big fan of the story mostly because it felt like something I’ve already seen before. And not just in other fantasy shows but in Locke and Key itself.
I think it would have been a great ending if the four of them throw their keys, but only one of them ended up cheating the others and keeping the key.
I would rate this season a 4/5, one extra point because they had the courage actually to end the show and not drag it too long.
