Apple 14 - The bestestestestest

Yesterday, Apple launched several new products, including the brand new iPhone 14 and a new Apple Watch. I went to see what the latest products were at a glance and all I could find was it was the best, the fastest, the most efficient etc hardware. There was nothing for me to compare to others, there were a lot of percentages, but no absolutes in terms of comparisons. And that’s when I realized this has been Apple’s playbook since the past few years.

Apple always puts itself as ‘The Best’ hardware company. But compared to whom? Who is the real competitor and that’s where the marketing genius of Apple lies? It does help that people in America are not really big on doing their research in terms of technology and the comparison of specs.

What’s new in Apple’s 2022 announcement?

  • A bunch of new iPhones

  • Apple Watch

  • Airpods

The only thing I would really be excited for this would be the Airpods 2. Airpods have been miles ahead of the competition often bringing in new innovations and ensuring they have a decent advantage. In 2022, there has been no technological leap in terms of the airpods, but the brand itself will be able to pull through. It’s a disruptive technology, one that has been marketed to fulfillment.

Apple branding has always taken precedence over anything else and there is a visible effort to try to reduce the comparisons with Android phone manufacturers. Simply because Apple is costlier, for much fewer specs, it costs a lot more.
